Michael, an aircraft marshaller by profession, had just moved to an interior part of Tanzania as part of his job. Marshalling is a one-on-one visual communication with the pilot, and is a part of aircraft ground handling. The usual equipment of a marshaller includes a reflecting safety vest, a helmet with acoustic earmuffs, and gloves or handheld illuminated beacons.

The airport in Tanzania was so small that the marshalling area was accessible to viewing for public as even the airport was recently constructed in that area.

Michael was all set for the day. Some parents and their kids came to the viewing area to watch the same. As Michael started giving out instructions, the viewers found it silly and started mocking him in their native language. With his limited knowledge of the language, Michael understood that they were calling him an idiot for showing crazy symbols in front of the aircraft. He said nothing but smiled as he was confident in his job and knew that he had the proper certificate and experience as well. Michael was a fool in the eyes of the natives as they were unaware of the importance of an Aircraft Marshaller.

In 1 Corinthians 4:10, Apostle Paul says, “We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!”

When we preach the gospel to the world, we may be ridiculed and we may be called idiots. But as a true follower of Christ, our works for Him is never in vain. Being an ambassador of Christ is the greatest privilege that we have. The world around us may not understand the things we do or the lifestyle we follow. They only see us as different in this world of confusion. As the aircraft marshaller has a goal – to keep the aircraft in safe condition by taking care of his own safety and required measures to avoid accidents, we the followers of Christ have to convey the Gospel to others. As Jude says, “And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” Jude‬ ‭1:22-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬. Save souls and never lose yours! Be on your guard and lead a holy life!

God bless you!
