The Walking Holy Scripture!
Lediya Jacob
The coherence of God-breathed man and Scripture is the endeavor of Holiness. The multifarious connotations of God’s breathe into both provide the insight purpose. “Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.”-Genesis: 2. 7 and “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”- II Timothy: 3. 16. So, God’s purpose orientation of man was to be a Walking Holy Scripture who can carry and spread the aroma of the Word of God to every corner of the world. But, man negated the purpose orientation through his sense organs. He stood in a place where not to be stood, he heard what is not be heard, he saw what is not to be seen, he touched what is not to be touched, and finally, he tasted what is not to be tasted.
Sinful acts are easily accessible and more attractive to our sense organs- eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and skin. The modernity which the modern world nowadays screaming out is the most advanced pathway for sinful acts. “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”- II Corinthians: 6. 14. It is a bitter truth that even the believers too had fallen into Satan’s sweetest trap of modernism. The Holiness is now blended with different ‘colors of modernism’ which focuses only on quenching the thirst of flesh rather than pouring the living water into the barren field to quench the thirst of the Spirit. “So, I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”- Galatians: 5. 16, 17.
The prior importance for the Word of God is now outweighed by the desires of the flesh and anxieties of tomorrow. The desires and anxieties blemished the temple which God wished to live in. “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person, for God’s temple is sacred and you together are that temple.”- II Corinthians: 3. 16, 17. As we are the temple, our sense organs are the bells that ring both our good and bad deeds. It echoes wherever we go. In due time, the man started exhibiting his richness through his sense organs. Today the world is rich in wealth, knowledge, and preaching, but with impoverished sermons. D.L Moody once said, “The preaching that this world needs most is the sermons in shoes that are walking with Jesus Christ.” A Christ-centered person shall have the gravity of sermon making him grounded and centered to Christ. He always puts the sermon into the Gospel, for God sees every heart at a distance. “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.”- I Samuel: 16. 7. Also the Bible says, “Your beauty should not come from the outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”- I Peter: 3. 3. We should offer ourselves before the LORD as a Holy offering, for we are God-breathed. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God- this is your true and proper worship.”- Romans: 12. 1.
So, a Walking Holy Scripture shall possess these qualities:
- Walks with God like an Enoch.
- Takes an effort in climbing the mountain to God like a Moses.
- Brings his whole self to worship God like an Abraham.
- Never walks in contrary to the teachings being taught, even in good and bad days like a Daniel.
- Never forgets his blood and the helping hands in the days of success like a Joseph.
- Could be easily identified amidst the crowd like a Peter.
- Shall possess a good sermon both in the Heaven and the Earth like a Job.
Dear brothers and sisters, the days have come to purify ourselves to strive for excellence in living sermons, rather than mere momentary words. “And a highway will be there, it will be called the Way of Holiness, it will be for those who walk on that way. The unclean will not journey on it, wicked fools will not go about on it.”- Isaiah: 35. 8. So, let’s shake the sleepy world to read the ‘Walking Holy Scripture’ in you and me with the living sermons.
