A biblical relationship never ceases to wonder at the imperfections, rather it comes with a confirmation from the Mighty Lord. It covers the multitude of sins and connects more to Christ. The eternal relationship the church has with Christ sets the perfect example of how the life-long earthly marriage relationship must be. A piece of advice from the Scripture for an ineffable love is being one body in union with Christ. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for it.”-Ephesians: 5.25.
The believers often carbon copies the historical evidence of Boaz and Ruth which is a soul-elevating demonstration of an ideal marriage. Boaz understands the background of Ruth from the overseer of his harvesters and then, begins the conversation with her with an affectionate calling ‘My daughter’ and speaking kindly enabling her to carry forward the relationship with ease. “So Boaz said to Ruth, ‘My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me. Watch the field the men are harvesting, and follow along after the women. I have told the men not to lay a hand on you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled.”-Ruth: 2.8 It also depicts how a girl works in the field of God, watching the men harvesting and following the elderly women which is a serious note to be considered. A Naomi at home gave her the best advice to step into the relationship with the full token of God’s presence. One of the best advice from Naomi to Ruth was to ‘wait’. “Then Naomi said, ‘Wait, my daughter, until you find out what happens for the man will not rest until the matter is settled today.”-Ruth: 3.18. Waiting might be tiresome and painful but, the scourging Jesus went through at Calvary for mankind surpasses the momentary pain.
Hiding us in the desert during the season of wait ascends to the beautiful promise of Canaan. Many a time, the relationships are tested with a calorie of heat to test their purity. The heat thickens up the pure milk but separates sour milk defining the morphology of any godly and ungodly relationships respectively. “The two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”-Mark: 10.8-9. Most of the times God sends a relationship where two are incompatible and weak in the areas we expect them to be strong. Paul Washer asks, “How can you learn unconditional love if you’re married to a woman who meets all your conditions?” Marriage is about two complementary people who acknowledge God’s supreme governance in life which creates the obligation to magnify Lord’s doing and stewardship from Him. “A three-ply cord doesn’t easily snap”-Ecclesiastes: 4.12. “And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.”-I John: 4.17.”
As the potter has the authority over the clay, the Heavenly Father, who is our foremost heritage, creates the perfect fit for the imperfections in us. This happens solely by patiently submitting, believing, and hearken diligently to the perfect will of God in the process of making. Setting up the list of conditions according to the earthly understanding might often hinder the free will of God like a Samson who finally fell victim to his foes through the love of Delilah. Instead, put complete trust in the creator, for He knows what His creation needs. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”-Proverbs: 3.5-6. Accepting to the lump of unworthiness devises the alignment of the footsteps to the perfect will of God. It is the realization to sleep like an Adam and submit wholly in His hands in the process of making.
My dear brothers and sisters, soften up our bone-to-bone area by the tears of prayer and the flesh-to-flesh area by the Blood of Jesus Christ. There’s nothing wherewith to pay than to submit, sleep and wait upon the Lord for a Boaz and a Ruth. Remember to keep centered in God and plot the graph with the points He gave without any doubt or questions like a Joseph to Mary. Wake up from the sleep and with no more questions, may the inward testimony testify like an Adam to Eve in the presence of God that, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh”-Genesis: 2.23.
