The teachings about the Holy Spirit had stirred up a lot of confusion in the church as most of the teachers have no or less knowledge of this topic. Many even teach that the Holy Spirit is power and in turn contradicting the teaching of the Holy Spirit as one among the three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) of the Godhead.
For many, the sign of tongues is evidence that a person has been baptized ‘in’ or ‘with’ the Holy Spirit. But, the Bible (specifically the book of Acts of the Apostles), does not record this manifestation in every case.
In addition, many neglects the major works of the Holy Spirit.
1. The Holy Spirit Is a Helper Who Teaches and Reminds. John 14:26
2. The Holy Spirit Convicts the World of Sin. John 16:7-8
3. The Holy Spirit Dwells in Believers and Fills Them. 1 Corinthians 3:16
4. The Holy Spirit Is a Source of Revelation, Wisdom, and Power. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11
5. The Holy Spirit Guides to All Truth, Including Knowledge of What Is to Come. John 16:13-15
6. The Holy Spirit Gives Spiritual Gifts to Believers. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
7. The Holy Spirit Is a Seal in the Lives of Believers. Ephesians 1:13
8. The Holy Spirit Helps in a Christian’s Weakness and Intercedes for Them. Romans 8:26-27
9. The Holy Spirit Makes Believers New and Gives Them Eternal Life. Romans 8:10-11
10. The Holy Spirit Sanctifies and Enables Believers to Bear Good Fruit in Their Lives. Galatians 5:16-25
So, the Holy Spirit is way beyond just enabling us to speak in tongues. He leads us in truth, and assists us in leading a holy and victorious Christian life.
