The ideology of placing fleece/signs to know the ‘perfect will’ of God might have been adopted to the Christian life from Gideon (Judges 6:36-40). Just as many ‘believers’ depend on the prophets, there is a huge crowd to wait for the fleece as well. Many times, these signs can be deceiving as emotionalism play a vital role in it. We usually seek for His will when it’s time for a marriage and to ‘know’ His will, we place the fleece as “if she/he is for me, she/he should wear the same dress like me.” Or “he/she should comb the hair in this style” and so on. Most of these signs are physically oriented and these have no evidence of seeking His will. I know many people who seemed His will through this and end up in utter failure as emotionalism blinded their eyes in discerning the will of God. Signs/wonders are essential but, if they become as a doctrine that is full dependant on the mental decisions alone and not having any element of God’s guidance, that becomes as a snare in the life of the believers. And above everything, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6
