In Genesis 18, we are introduced to a God who is willing to share His mind with His chosen one. 17th verse says “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?”
Can you imagine of a GOD who finds its very hard or who is not able to hide what He is about to do from His Friend. All would agree that Friendship is the only bond which gives this kind of freedom and confidence. And then in verse 19, Lord speaks of the confidence He has in Abraham. ‘When the men got up to leave, Abraham walked along with them’ (Vs. 16)– The effort Abraham puts into this relationship with God and the confidence God has in Abraham now that’s what I would say “relationship goals.” An effort to walk a mile more with God than others would go, we find Sarah in this scene but she limits herself to the entrance of the tent (Vs. 10). They both have just heard a promise from the Lord which for both of them is hard to accept (Vs. 11) (17:17). But in Verse 12, we find Sarah doubting while Abraham decides to walk a little more with the God who promised (Vs. 16).
A walk of Faith, even when the circumstances are odd, when there’s none to support and when there are lots of doubts and facts that pull you back, into the shell. That’s what made Abraham the Father of many nations, in Romans 4:11as the Father of Faith. A shell is formed when we doubt God’s promises, let’s not be the Sarah, though was given a new identity and promise restricted herself to the lies of the devil.
Let’s follow the example of Abraham, who reacted similarly at first, (Genesis 17:17) but later a positive gesture from His side transformed him into Father of Faith. Let’s Faith it till He makes it, against all odds, where there isn’t a single possibility of hope. Because we have a GOD who whispers to us every moment “Is anything too hard for the LORD.” (Genesis 17:14).
Trust Him.
