Basic survival necessities of life are oxygen, shelter, water and food. Experiments state that we can survive for 3 minutes without oxygen (or in icy cold water), 3 hours without shelter in harsh conditions- extreme heat or extreme cold, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food.

• ‘Pneuma‘ is an ancient Greek word for “breath or air“, and is also used in religious context for “spirit” or “soul”. For a Christian, the cardinal necessity is, that our inner man ought to be ministered with the spiritual oxygen every minute. We die spiritually, the moment we pause this exercise of intaking God and exhaling the unwanted carbon dioxide (negative thoughts), which is the waste product of gas exchange (hurtful events, comments etc.).

• This current sitch or failure isn’t meant to be our home, it’s a mere stay, a temporary one! It gets harder to survive when we easily gravitate towards beliefs that a mere season decides our tomorrow. We are not supposed to make a temporary circumstance of today, our permanent address. We need to locate our mind in the promises of Father, even when it visibly seems to be a bottomless pit! Seasons do change.

• Water represents life. Jeremiah describes God as “the spring of living water.” John 4:10 says, “If you knew the gift of God, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” Rivers can run dry at times and unlike such a river let us be filled every day with this gift of God and allow this living water to flow from us too such that, it becomes a blessing; sustaining life wherever it flows.

• Food may be last in the list but it can’t be overlooked cause survival isn’t enough. Living unhealthy is no better than dying! Feed on stuffs that provide you with the proper vitamins; supplies the right energy, maintains life and stimulates growth. No matter the many exercises we may do, ultimately it is what we eat,  decides all. Follow the right diet.

Better is to LIVE a healthy spiritual life than just simply exist!
