A Christian isn’t the one who have to strive to remain a believer but the one who makes a choice to stay humble. Obedience and Humility work in partnership- it is impossible to exclude one from another. It is mandatory to be deferential to one’s fellow being. Unassuming even towards the one who forgot to be polite to you. Humility is the major trait of a true disciple and a symptom of true obedience to GOD. Bible promises that the reward of humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, honor and life. What else is requisite!?
Jesus is the perfect and the ultimate example of Humility. He deserved to stay in heaven, yet out of His great love and obedience towards the Heavenly father, He chose human nature without ceasing to be God. An obedience towards God to the point from being born a baby till the point of dying an embarrassing and painful death on the cross for our sins. We read in Isaiah, “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’” Jesus Himself being the only way, allowed John the Baptist to prepare the way in Matthew 3. Can you imagine? The one who is exactly the true way needed one to prepare a way for Him because He submitted to the call and purpose of His life. To fulfil every single prophecy and all that the prophets testified about Him, Jesus obeyed! He said, “Let it be so now; it is proper, to fulfil all righteousness.”
Micah 6:8- “What is good; And what does the LORD require of you is to walk humbly with your God?”
Colossians 3:12- “So, as those who have been chosen of God clothe yourself with humility;”
James 3:13- “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”
Thus, Humility isn’t just a symptom of an obedient soul but a proof that we are a chosen of God and is a feature of wise person. Moments we allow ourself to stray away from these traits we actually loose our identification marks or proof as a citizen of Heaven.
