Exodus 14:13-14 – Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Take your stand [be firm and confident and undismayed] and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for those Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.”
The words ‘fear not’ and ‘do not be afraid’ are mentioned in bible more than 300 times, arguably 365 times. Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of SONSHIP.” Hence for a CHILD of GOD to be ‘fearful’ amist certain circumstances, is never an appropriate reaction and nor a seemlier state of mind. It isn’t befitting for a ‘heir.’
Fear acts as a veil of confusion and uncertainty which obscure our vision of the hills, full of horses and chariots of fire all around us in the difficulty. (2 Kings 6:15-17). When Moses and the Israelites chose to take stand, they ultimately witness somewhat usual- the angel of God, who had been going in front of the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them. The pillar of the cloud moved from in front and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. It was a cloud along with darkness even by day to the Egyptians, but it gave light by night to the Israelites; so one [army] did not come near the other all night.
The ‘appointed’ sea that was before them and the ‘appointed’ army that followed them wasn’t meant to discourage or to shake them off their confidence but for deepening their trust in Him; for the manifesto of glory and power of God’s name. The deep waters which had a history of annihilation until then and the enemy that boasted, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake them, I will divide the spoils, became the reasons for a celebration and a podium for singing songs of deliverance. Even the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from Israel, for the Lord is fighting for them against the Egyptians.” (Exodus 14:25). What an awesome God we serve!
Let us walk on with confidence in His strength. Don’t be dismayed while facing the appointed crisis, they aren’t meant to disappoint us instead they are there to vault us up; Lord will fight for us against ‘it’ when we remain calm and He is already prepared with His creative, unique and unconventional paths for our deliverance.
God bless!
Have a great day!
