David, a student at the University of Toronto who majored in electromechanical was happy when he reached home as he had completed his second semester project. He showed his dad, Matthew his great work. It was a metal piece that was tapered at one end. His father showed contempt on seeing it. “What’s so great in this? Anyone who knows to run a lathe can make this!” he responded. David became really sad on hearing the “compliment” and he conveyed the same to his professor the day he went back to the university.
That afternoon Matthew received a call from the professor to meet him at the university. He was tensed and rushed to the university.
The professor said nothing rather took him to the project development centre and asked him to look through the eyepiece of a microscope he had placed.
“Wow! Who created this beautiful imprint!?”, he asked in wonder.
“Your son!” Professor replied.
“What?” Matthew couldn’t believe his eyes.
The professor took the specimen from under the microscope. It was the same old metal piece.
“It’s the fruit of his hardwork that he achieved after striving for 3 weeks and you considered it of low value as you didn’t see it in its real beauty!” the Professor added.
Matthew felt so bad about his response and apologized to his son and encouraged him to do more!
The judgemental attitude in us makes us blind to other’s inner beauty. They may carry beautiful imprints of GOD and can only be viewed from His perspective. For this, we need to close our eyes to the distracting visions and judgment of this world.
A verse to keep in mind: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1-2.
