Linda came home with a heavy heart as her best friend Clara had parted with her because of some misunderstandings. The friendship they kept for years just shattered. The promise of being together till death separate them! Everything was gone in a flash!

She sat down on her prayer mat with all her burdens. No words of prayer would come, but just cries! The GOD who hears even the slightest sigh of our hearts began talking to her.

“Linda, I am the best friend you have!”

She could realise that the LORD gave emphasis to the words, “The best friend!”

She felt the warmth of GOD’s grace and HIS love embracing her. She felt that her burdens were washed away in those loving words of her Heavenly Father. Tears soaked her prayer mat.

“Linda, you are hurt when your friend parted as you depended on her more than on Me. Haven’t I spoke in the Scriptures not to put your trust in men who change according to seasons? Have I not given you the promise that I will never leave you nor forsake you?”

Linda could not respond as every word was true to the core. She submitted her life to GOD and took a decision to have GOD as her ‘the best friend.’
We may have hundreds of friends, but when they depart us, we get hurt. When our love and dependency shifts from GOD to mortals, we create a barrier for the love of GOD to flow in us. And sometimes GOD allows certain situations to happen in our life to teach us that everyone’s love and care has limitations but He is unchanging! He also makes us understand that none can replace HIS role in our life. We feel happy and spend time with our mortal friends whose lives have no guarantee and who may fail to fulfill the needs we may have. Think of GOD who stands on our side even if the whole world tears apart, who has promised to carry us in His mighty arms even when our hair turns grey and who gave life to us in our mother’s womb and who awaits to receive us in His glory! How much more precious we are and how unfathomable is His love for us!

The invitation is open. Will you accept Jesus as your best friend and lead a life pleasing to Him? Be of good cheer for He is unchanging!
