Devotional portion: Psalm 3:5-6
“I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.”
As God was David’s shield, he had a sound sleep- a blessing that God gives. None can have a good sleep when they are under pressure. Though the heat of the situation was much, the presence of GOD gave David an assurance that all would turn out for good. And he woke up as GOD guarded him from death during the night. His physiological system could have caused him trouble during the night and it could even have led to a paralysis, but the one who gave him sleep guarded him from the shock of all the insecurities around him as well. David gives us a valuable lesson of trusting God in insecurities, pain and depression.
We often fail as we are unable to process the fact that the LORD will guard us through the situation. None in the world can sustain you in any situation. Before I did this quiet time, I used to tell my troubles and pain to my parents when I can’t bear them no more, and when they say, “It’s fine, God will help you!”, that calmed my mind. But GOD wants us to trade our sorrows with Him so that He will fill us with His immense peace that surpasses all understanding. If you think that your life is going from bad to the worse, if you see impossibilities and discouragement around you, trust GOD. The one who holds our hand has a better picture about the situation and He knows how to lead us without falling into the hands of the enemies. Trust GOD blindly.
When trusting GOD becomes the primary factor of our personal Christian life, things will change from better to best. David’s confidence in the LORD is declared as, “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.” If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). The LORD guards you from the enemies.
Reflection: Whatever you are facing, be it a spiritual battle, mental stress or emotional pain, give your life to GOD. Though every circumstance is against you, with GOD on your side, you can stand upright.
