Devotional Portion: Psalm 7:3-10

David pours out his heart before the LORD. He analyzes his life in GOD’s presence, not as part of a self-righteous act, but in humility and surrender. He was confident about his relationship with GOD and with men, that it was according to God’s expectations. A man who seeks GOD’s heart should have an attitude to examine his private and public life. It should be a part of our life and not only when we are stricken by trials or faced by enemies. His desire to be blameless before GOD made David analyze his life.

Verse 6-7
David waits for the intervention of GOD rather than taking a step by himself. Though he is pained within, he has a heart to wait for GOD. He is confident about the righteous act of GOD and he knew that GOD has already commanded a judgment in his regard as well. Also he adds that the ways of GOD are high above the thoughts of the people. A man of GOD always has confidence that GOD is there for him even in the adverse situations of life. Faith in GOD is the anchor that makes a Christian strong in his life situations and he gets even stronger after facing the situations, as he sees the mighty hand of GOD working for him.

Verse 8-10
The thought about the justice of GOD protected David in the time of adversity and he submits himself to be judged by GOD on the basis of his righteousness and integrity. This verse reminds me of another verse in the New Testament, “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37.

“For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.” (Vs. 9). “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13.

“My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart.” (Vs. 10). Though all the world be against us and though things do not go the way we expect, remember that GOD is our defense – the One who sustains us, the One who leads and the One who promised to be with us until the end of the days. And to experience the aforementioned, we ought to have an upright heart!

Reflection: Pour out our heart before GOD and not before men. Wait for Him in patiently and submit to His perfect will and have a heart that seeks Him all the time!
