Devotional Portion: Psalm 7:11-13
Though he is pained, David always remembers that GOD is a righteous judge. He mentions a way to overcome the hurts from people. Whenever we get depressed remembering the bad that was done by others, make sure to remember GOD. Remembering the hurts of the people will push us to have grudges and that can alienate us from GOD as well.
GOD is angry with the wicked every day. But as GOD is gracious to everyone, He gives time even for the wicked to repent. “If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready.” (Vs. 12). He waits for the ‘turn back’ of the wicked. Many of us have doubted GOD for not slaying the wicked as wickedness is growing exponentially in the world each day. It is not because GOD is blind to all these, but that delay is an expression of His love for sinners. HE loved us even when we were sinners and HE gave Himself up as the sacrifice for our sins. The empty cross of Calvary does not just have a meaning that HE died and rose again on the third day, but it shows a deeper meaning that HE is interceding for us at the right hand of GOD (Romans 8:34).
If GOD is angry with the wicked every day, how much more will He be gracious to the people who seek Him completely?
And in the very next verse, David adds, “He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.” (Vs. 13). Remember His delay is not His ignorance, but it’s His love. But never take it for granted.
Reflection: The LORD is merciful but His eyes watch everything and He tests hearts and minds. Are we following Him completely or do we have wickedness in our hearts? Repent and turn back to GOD. Let’s have a heart to align our lives with the Word of GOD and let’s walk in righteous paths of the LORD.
