Key Verse: Nehemiah 2:12, “I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem.”
It is always good to have a trusted friend circle. But, amidst it, you must have a space for yourself and GOD alone. It is not necessary to pour out everything to your friends. Nehemiah was sure about his divine calling, but he never disclosed all of it to his friends immediately. He kept it in his heart that GOD would give him the guidance and ways to execute the divine plans. Your commitment is to GOD, and not to your friends around. The God-given guidance you have, may seem contradictory to some of your fellow beings, but, execute it only when GOD gives you the guidance.
Spurgeon once said, “You will often find it best not to commit your plans to others. If you want to serve GOD, go and do it, and then let other people find it out afterwards. You have no need to tell what you are going to do, and, I may add, there is no need for you retelling what you have done, for very, very frequently GOD withdraws himself when we boast of what is being done.”
Many people fail as leaders, when they try to prove themselves right, ending in utter failure. So, don’t try to prove yourself before people, instead strive to please GOD.
Practical Living: As a leader, don’t try to please people around. Rather, please GOD. Do HIS perfect will and bring a change in the community where you are placed.
