Suicide rates have increased in recent years, not because of an upsurge in hardships and pain in this world rather it’s because of the scantiness of love amongst people which undoubtedly ought to be the essence of human nature.
A well-known scientist and physicist once quoted, “Any fool can know, the point is to understand.” Every day is a fight, every breath a battle and it becomes the hardest when we have to face these all alone. Everyone needs someone in life, not to fix everything for them but to be there for them so that they may never have to face these circumstances, all alone. It’s high time we comprehend that it takes greater courage to live than to kill oneself!
God for the first time said about something as “It is not good” which is recorded in Genesis 2:18: this verse clearly states that the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper (helpmeet).” He formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, creatures that crawl on the land and those that live in the water before He created Eve, yet not even for once did God ask any of those creatures to be a companion of Man nor do we read Adam approaching an elephant- the strongest mammal or a cheetah who is the fastest animal or a dog which is considered the most affectionate and loving animal, or peacock who symbolizes beauty and integrity or chimpanzees who are indeed smartest animals on land, for love and empathy.
A helpmeet doesn’t always have to be a wife, it can be a sibling, a family member, a friend, in short someone with eyes that sees the unnoticed pain, ears that hears the unsaid words, and a heart that understands a broken heart. Prove your strength not just by standing up for yourself, but by standing up for others around you. No matter how great of a career and academic successes one may have to flaunt, how much one has earned fame, how skilled or beautiful or rich one maybe, if he/she can’t be someone who would offer their shoulder to a fellow being to cry on and rely without judging them, then he/she isn’t a human yet.
Many now know that suicide is indeed a big problem and mistake that many commit but we still fail to understand the underlying reasons for this mess are that we have become unapproachable or should I say we’ve become animals or say we’ve failed to be humans.
