Devotional Portion:‭‭  Psalms‬ ‭10:12-13‬

Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble. Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, “You will not require an account.”

Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble.

The Palmist called upon the LORD to take action against the wicked. “This verse is the incessant cry of the Church, and she will never refrain therefrom until her Lord shall come in his glory to avenge her of all her adversaries.” (Treasury of David, Charles Spurgeon).

“Why do the wicked renounce, God?” The psalmist answered his question in the next verse, “God will not require an account.” They flatter themselves with false assurances that God has ignored them. “The long-suffering of God, instead of leading such a one to repentance, only hardens him in his iniquity. Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, he thinks it will not be executed at all.” (Horne)

Never consider the long-suffering of God as a license to continue in sin, He is giving a chance for the wicked to repent and turn to Him. The LORD who is in control is keeping all accounts and He will bring everything to the judgement. Also, the oppressed must not retreat from their faith, the Master watches over you and bring justice. Even the denied Justice of this world has a perfect role in His kingdom.

Reflection: Wait upon the LORD till He rise up for us.
