02. A Leader cares for others

Key Verse: Nehemiah 1:2, “I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.”

Though Nehemiah was in exile, living well-off, he was anxious to know about the lives of the people who returned to Jerusalem, under the leadership of Zerubbabel and Ezra. Nehemiah’s position and duties as a cup-bearer, never hindered him from thinking about the conditions in Jerusalem. His heart longed to return to Jerusalem – the place of GOD and HIS chosen people.

We must never allow our wealth, positions or any worldly belonging, to create a wall around us. We can’t achieve anything by forgetting our past- the ways in which GOD led us. When we are safe and sound, we have a responsibility toward our fellow brothers. A true leader must be concerned and aware about the needs and the situations of the people around.

Practical Living: Make it a habit to enquire about the well-being of our fellow beings. Call or text them. Make them feel that you care about them.
