Many of us are living our lives all wounded and scarred. There are no perfect parents, no perfect friends, no perfect siblings or spouses. We live in and among imperfect humans. And sometimes even we lash out and hurt others. But, forgiveness is the key to a holy and peaceful life.
Forgiveness is an attribute which only a strong heart possess. Bible says, forgive others as the Lord has forgiven you, which more than a reminder is a commandment to us that we ought to forgive those who wrong us. Nobody willingly opts for a lifetime imprisonment but when we don’t let go of the pain, all the grudges and those past wounds, in reality we are getting imprisoned in the hurt. Covering up a hurt and that too without a proper healing procedures makes the wound even more painful. For us, sometimes it is hard to get over a hurt and forgive that person; it’s in prayer when we choose to go before HIM with the scar, happens all the miracle. (See detailed post: Worship is a workshop!) We must allow the Lord to guide us to a lifestyle of forgiveness for our scars.
Forgiving is really ‘for giving’ purpose, it isn’t giving them yet another chance to hurt you back but an opportunity to let God do the justice. Forgiveness sets the victim free; helps us to be at peace with the people who showered moments of deeps cuts and heart aches to us. “We must forgive those who hurt us, so the scars in our lives become symbols of God’s redeeming love rather than reminders of painful events.” Show mercy to the ones who are undeserving, for our heavenly Father has shown us mercy.
Like Jesus, let’s love each other so that we can experience triumph and not pain, freedom and not enslavement to negativity, and joy instead of anger.
Let us be forgiving to one another and be like Christ, filled with God’s love and mercy.
