Devotional Portion: Psalm 9:11-12

Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.

David is exhorting others to praise Him again. Our praises must not be seasonal. It should not be bounded upon the ‘good things’ happening in life. We must praise Him all time and are called to declare His works to others. Praise must be a routine of a believer’s life- not by compulsion.

God is near to the cries of the humble and redeems them from all enemies. It reminds us that God will remember and avenge the blood of His persecuted people. “O persecutors, there is a time a-coming, when God will make a strict enquiry after the blood of Hooper, Bradford, Latimer, Taylor, Ridley, etc. There is a time a-coming, wherein God will enquire who silenced and suspended such-and-such ministers, and who stopped the mouths of such-and-such, and who imprisoned, confined, and banished such-and-such, who were once burning and shining lights, and who were willing to spend and be spent that sinners might be saved, and that Christ might be glorified.” (Spurgeon)

Reflection: Our God is worthy to be praised all the time. Worship Him with all your heart, mind and soul.
