Worship has become more robotic over the centuries in the churches. We wait to ‘worship’ when the tempo of the song goes over 140, towards the end of the song. The Holy Bible has no account of any incidents to substantiate that worship is something that happens spontaneously at the very end of any song! I have noticed that the ‘worship’ ends immediately if we turn the volume fader down on the mixer console (have tried it multiple times in churches), and we can easily say that the ‘worship’ that just happened was not divine but a complete exhibition of physical activity due to heavy music or cause of clapping hands rigorously! MW dictionary gives the definition of worship as “to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.” Do our ‘worships’ have at least these qualities that a secular dictionary gives? Worship has become more like talking to God alone rather than allowing Him to talk to us, and cleanse us. “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John 4:23. Worship should be in Spirit, and truth- “the Father is seeking such worship!” Be a worshipper rather than trying to become a ‘worship leader.’ Always remember, the Holy Spirit is the one who leads the worship and we are the vessels filled with His grace and love to worship the true living God.
