Devotional Portion: Psalms 9:9-10
The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.
David is more thankful as God is a refuge and fortress for those oppressed by the wicked. He not only took care of the enemies, but He brought protection to those who were in need. When we are oppressed, run to Him as He is our everlasting refuge. He carries us in His arms and tools care of us. The ultimate protection and hope for a Saint is that He shall receive us to His eternal glory.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
David understood that God is a refuge for those who have a relationship with Him (who know Your name)- knowing who He is; those who have faith in Him (put their faith in You)- trusting the sovereignty of God, and those who seek Him– seeking as a treasure of their lives.
“To ‘know Thy name’ is here equivalent to learning God’s character as made known by His acts.” (Maclaren)
Reflection: God is our trustworthy refuge, let’s make sure that we are walking in His footsteps and according to His will.
