Reading Portion: 1 Kings 18:40-46
Elijah proved who the real GOD is and the people turned back to the LORD when they saw the sacrifice burnt by fire from above. His zealous act did not stop with that. He asked the people to seize the prophets of Baal and kill them. A zealous man of God will always eliminate the ungodly practices or its leaders by the power of the LORD. JESUS cleaned the temple of the LORD as the people made it a den of thieves.
Elijah’s priority was not to make GOD send rain, but his priority was to make the people turn back to God. A zealous man always gives importance to GOD and His kingdom, over every other blessing that the world considers important.
“And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.”” (Vs. 41). Elijah had the faith that GOD will send rain if the people turn to GOD. That’s why even though he saw no clouds, he asked Ahab to leave. When you say a word of faith, cast yourself down upon it until you see the rain! Anyone can proclaim a word of faith, but the latter matters and is of much importance. In many of our lives, things may become slow to happen, as we proclaim, but we never pray. When prayer becomes the heat to the word of faith, miracles happen.
Elijah put his trust in his LORD. As he prayed, he sent his servant eight times to look at the changes in the sky. And it rained. Elijah ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. Run ahead of things that slow down our race. Have the courage to say no to ungodly practices, and pray about the things that we say out in faith.
