Reading Portion: 1 Kings 19:15-18

When GOD talks to us, He will give us the guidance about where we ought to head and He will also give us the assurance that His hand is moving along with us. GOD gave Elijah the guidance at Mount Horeb, and Horeb means arid. The desert situations in our lives will turn out to be a garden if GOD leads us in the midst of it. He will teach us to love Him in that situation, such that we will move according to His words, and will not be moved by any other sounds of this world. When GOD spoke to Elijah, He wanted Elijah to travel through the desert of Damascus on his way back. When GOD asks us to move, we must obey Him without a second thought. He may be leading us into a desert, or to the wilderness, but GOD has a plan for us to carry out, even in the desert. Many times, we fail to trust GOD in the deserts of our lives. We expect GOD to lead us to His dreams through easy ways. When GOD teaches us something, He will make sure that we gain enough wisdom to motivate others as well. Elijah went through such situations so that he could bring forth a successful son like Elisha.

To be faithful in this season, we have to forget the pain of the past and trust GOD who is full of mercy and grace. Follow His will and GOD will use us to appoint and anoint people for nations and for our help.

When GOD concluded His words to Elijah, He added, “Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.” 1 Kings 19:18. We may be going through a time when we feel like we are in serving the LORD alone or we are facing a situation alone, but, GOD always has people whom we don’t know or whom we haven’t met at that time. GOD always has a reserve who is ready to serve Him with their whole heart and mind.
