Devotional Portion: ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:7-8‬

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

David is blessing (speaking good about) the LORD for His guidance and counsel. The false gods of the nations could never give counsel the way the LORD gave it to David. The LORD gives guidance to His children through His word, and He leads the heart in His ways. “Methinks I hear a sweet still voice within me, saying, This is the way, walk in it; and this in the night season, when I am wrapped in rest and silence.” (Trapp)

As he progresses, David is taking the decision to put the LORD before him. He wasn’t making God the priority of his life, but he was determined to make the LORD as his focus. He wanted to perceive the world in the way how God sees it. He wants to see through the LORD, rather than jumping to judgmental conclusions about the people he is encountering. He wanted to see through the perfect mirror and also to discern and make his spiritual boundaries strong so he could face the world with divine courage.

As David was determined, the LORD took care of him. The LORD was standing and providing security in David’s life.

Reflection: LORD, help me to see the world and people through Your perspective, help me to bless Your name throughout my life.
