Devotional Portion: Psalm 15:5

He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

Another quality David quotes is financial purity. Usury is an illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest. The righteousness in money is also important in a believer’s life. Many people who show righteousness in other matters may become more greedy than honouring God with them.

Bribe is another social evil in this era as well. “And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.” Exodus 23:8. Corruption and bribery are common in this generation. Never let the money be our master, submit to God. Money and readiness make us proud and arrogant.

“Jesus instead of taking a reward against the innocent died for the guilty.” Charles Spurgeon.

He who does these things shall never be moved.

When we are able to make our foundation strong in the Lord and in His word, we will be able to face the storms of this world. If our heart possesses things that could attract the winds of this world, we’ll be destroyed.

Obedience to God brings stability and blessings. Let’s look above to the things eternal and let our hearts be strong in the LORD.

“To continue in sin is to frustrate the very purpose of God in grace. To do that is to be excluded from His tent, to be shut out from the holy mountain.” Morgan

Reflection: Check where we are founded upon. Are we rooted upon the eternal rock or are we still building on sand?
